Non-formal Education through Arts
With Art programs being eliminated from schools due to budget cuts, and with overworked and underfinanced parents unable to provide their children with private art lessons, we face a future of adults without strong creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills. Arts promote, encourage and provide a safe, exploring experience for children and young people to practice skills that are vital to the rest of their education. How can a child solve a complex scientific problem without the ability to think creatively and be innovative? The effect of art on children cannot be denied or ignored.To confront with the current reality of the governmental education system, AGORA Arts & Culture has launched its program "Explore the Arts". It is an educational program providing the children and young people with a platform of exploration and experimentation through the practice of Arts using non-formal learning techniques.
Non-Formal Education is any organized and sustained educational activity that do not correspond exactly to the definition of formal education. Non-formal education may therefore take place both within and outside educational institutions, and cater to persons of all ages. Depending on different contexts and needs, it may cover educational programs to impart adult literacy, basic education for out-of-school children, life-skills, work-skills, and general culture. Non-formal education programs do not necessarily follow the 'ladder' system, and may have differing durations.
This teaching technique is based on democratic decision making, negotiating, participation and personal development. Through the use of non-formal education as a teaching technique, the children can obtain many skills which are commitment, involvement, responsibility, solidarity, democratic awareness, motivation, initiative, emancipation and empowerment, creativity, respect, tolerance, intercultural awareness, criticism, intellectual independence and self-confidence.
Explore the Arts is neither a common arts program nor a workshop where the child paints and plays; it is a life-skill-building activity.

التعلم الغير مباشر من خلال ممارسة الفن
مع إلغاء برامج ممارسة الفنون من المدارس وعدم مقدرة بعض العائلات على توفير دروس في الفنون لأطفالهم، يواجه أطفالنا مستقبل بدون مهارات قوة الإبداع والابتكار وحل المشاكل. الفنون تعزز وتشجع على اكتساب خبرات واستكشاف مهارات في الأطفال والشباب مهمة لبقية مسيرتهم التعليمية. كيف يمكن للطفل حل مشكلة علمية معقدة من دون القدرة على التفكير بشكل خلاق ومبتكر؟ لا يمكن إنكار أو تجاهل تأثير ممارسة الفن على الأطفال والشباب.
لمواجهة الواقع الحالي لنظام التعليم الحكومي، أطلقت أجــورا للثقافة والفنون برنامجها "استكشف الفنون"، وهو برنامج تعليمي يوفر للأطفال والشباب مساحة من الستكشاف والتجارب من خلال ممارسة الفنون باستخدام تقنيات التعلم الغير مباشر
.
التعليم الغير مباشر هو أي نشاط تعليمي منظم ومستمر لا يشابه نظام التعليم الرسمي، لذا فيمكن أن يكون داخل أو خارج المؤسسات التعليمية، وهو يلبي الاحتياجات التعليمية للأشخاص من جميع الأعمار. اعتمادًا على ظروف المختلفة والسياقات المتغيرة، قد يكون برامج تعليمي لمحو أمية الكبار، وقد يكون أيضًا برنامج تعليمي للأطفال الغير ملتحقين بالمدارس، وهو أيضًا برنامج لتنمية المهارات الحياتية، وقد يكون أيضًا برنامج لتطوير المهارات والثقافة العامة. التعلم الغير مباشر لا يتبع بالضرورة "سلم النظام"، يمكن أن يكون له فترات تعليمية مختلفة.
وتستند هذه التقنية على تعليم مهارات صنع القرار الديمقراطي، التفاوض، والمشاركة والتنمية الشخصية. من خلال استخدام التعليم غير مباشر كأسلوب للتعليم، يكتسب الأطفال الكثير من المهارات والقيم مثل التزام، والمشاركة، والمسؤولية، والتضامن، والوعي الديمقراطي، والمبادرة، والتمكين، والإبداع، والاحترام، والتسامح وفهم الثقافات المختلفة، والنقد، والاستقلال الفكري، والثقة بالنفس

استكشاف الفنون ليس برنامج فنون تقليدي ولا هو ورشة عمل حيث يرسم الطفل ويلهو، وإنما هو نشاط لبناء مهارات الحياة.
