Call for Participation
AGORA for Arts and Culture
(Egypt) and We Love Sousse association (Tunisia) are pleased to announce the
open call participation in BAB ELBAHR FESTIVAL 2016 "Third Edition",
taking place during the months of July and August 2016 in Egypt and Tunisia
back to back. Activities in Tunisia will take place during the period from 14
to 17 July 2016, activities in Egypt will take place during the month of August
according to the schedule announced soon.
The call is open for
artists from various disciplines "performing, visual and plastic
arts" from all over the world. Festival theme is countering violence and
extremism from the cultural perspective.
FESTIVAL THEME AND SELECTION:
Festival theme is
countering violence and extremism from the cultural perspective. We favor
performances / entries that relate to the festival theme whether in a direct or
an indirect way. The festival is very keen to host various performances that
use creative techniques and / or are interactive / cooperative. We accept
musical performances, entries from solo / independent musicians to participate
in the music workshop, street theater performances, clowning, and circus,
contemporary dance that are presented or can be adapted for public spaces. We
also accept entries from visual artists presenting contemporary arts, video and
light shows / art.
Activities this year (all activities are happening in Egypt and
Tunisia):

Cooperative workshop between
musicians from different countries.

Cultural leadership
workshop with cultural operators.

Handcrafts exhibition.
-
NGOs and Creative
Entrepreneurs Expo.

Photography Exhibition.
-
Interactive street
performances (Dance, Storytelling, Clowning, Circus, etc.)
-
Cultural Café:
discussions and debates.

Thursday 16 May for international entries, and Thursday 30 May for local
entries.

General information and Guidelines:
1-
The festival will cover
full board accommodation in Egypt and Tunisia.
2-
The festival will cover
ground transportation in Egypt and Tunisia.
3-
The festival doesn't
cover international flights, but we are happy to provide official invitation
letters and the necessary papers to apply for travel grants.
4-
The festival covers all
technical needs and all the necessary marketing and visibility materials.
