موسم فني جديد

تحفة أمينبار "أجـــورا"  تحاول استرجاع الواقع الملموس والفكر وثقافة وقت هيباتيا في مدينة الإسكندرية. هذا هو الفيلم الوحيد الذي روى قصة هيباتيا، في الوقت الذي يخبرنا فيه كيف دهشت هذه المرأة العالم بأكمله بالنتائج التي توصلت إليها، فإنه يلقي الضوء أيضًا على التاريخ الاجتماعي والسياسي في الاسكندرية، ويبين أوجه التشابه بين تعصب وتحيز القرن الرابع وما يقابله في عصرنا. هذا فصل هام في تاريخ مصر والعالم ولا نعلم عنه شيئًا. كُتب التاريخ المدرسية تجاهلت تماما هذا القرن.

ومن المثير للدهشة أن التاريخ يعيد نفسه! هناك نظرية مفضلة لمارك توين: "لا يوجد حدث وحيد ومنفرد، ولكن هو مجرد تكرار لشيء حدث من قبل، غالبًا عدة مرات". هذا هو ما يسمى بـ "التكرار التاريخي" والذي هو تكرار أحداث مماثلة في التاريخ. ومع ذلك، في حين أن في كثير من الأحيان نلاحظ أن "التاريخ يعيد نفسه"، في دورات أقل من المدة الكونية، فإن هذه النظرية لا يمكن أن تكون صحيحة تمامًا. وهذا ما أعترف به مارك توين، الذي نُقل عنه هذا القول: "التاريخ لا يعيد نفسه،  ولكنه يتناغم.

التاريخ يتناغم! وهذا ما سنحاول عرضه من خلال الموسم الفني المُقبل تحت عنوان "هـيـسـتـوريـا". اخترنا هذا العنوان لأنه هو أصل كلمة "تاريخ". "هيستوريا" هي كلمة يونانية تعني البحث في الماضي من خلال التحقيق والمعرفة. وتعني أيضًا اكتشاف وجمع وتنظيم وعرض معلومات عن الأحداث الماضية. سنأخذ جمهورنا في رحلة للبحث والتحقيق في تاريخ الإسكندرية الكوزموبوليتاني من خلال مجموعة متنوعة من الأنشطة التي تتراوح بين المناظرات والمهرجانات وورش العمل للأطفال والشباب والمسرحيات والمعارض. سوف يشهد موسمنا الفني سبتمبر 2012 إلى فبراير 2013 كامل التنوير والتعليم والترفيه والإبداع والمشاركة المجتمعية  من خلال هـيـسـتـوريـا.

New Artistic Season

Amenábar's masterpiece "AGORA", attempts to recreate the physical reality, thought and culture of Hypatia's time in Alexandria. It is the only film to ever tell Hypatia's story, but as it tells us how this woman astonished the world with her findings, it equally sheds light on the social and political history of Alexandria, and shows the parallels between the intolerance and prejudice of the 4th century and those of our time. This is an important chapter in the Egyptian and the world's history that we never learned about. History books of our national, international and governmental schools completely overlooked this significant century.

It is surprising how history repeats! A favourite theory of Mark Twain: "no occurrence is sole and solitary, but is merely a repetition of a thing which has happened before and perhaps often". This is the so-called "historic recurrence" which is the repetition of similar events in history. Nevertheless, while it is often remarked that "History repeats itself," in cycles of less than cosmological duration, it cannot be strictly true. That was appreciated by Mark Twain, who has been quoted as saying that "History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

History does rhyme! And that is what we will try to convey through our forthcoming artistic season "HISTORIA". We chose this particular title from which the word "history" came. Historia is a Greek word meaning inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation. It also means the discovery, collection, organization, and presentation of information about past events. We will take our audience on a journey of investigation in the history of cosmopolitan Alexandria through a variety of activities ranging from debate, festivals, children workshops, Theatrical plays, talks and exhibitions. September 2012 through February 2013 will witness a hybrid season full of enlightenment, education, entertainment and creative community involvement through historia.
